Another earlier drawing more tonal than linear.
Cropped protion of a larger drawing done early after returning to life drawing. Over the years I have wrestled with wanting my drawings to be more "tonal" and less linear. This is one of the less linear of my drawings - where form is more created with a mass of color and tone vs. just line. At a later point I may post the full drawing.

Forshortened - when the figure is coming towards you can be challenging. I try and think of the form as a human landscape and the task is less daunting.
About a 30 minute pose. My life drawings tend to focus more on capturing energy - emotion - over an exact rendering of form and shape. Male energy is - well- something I enjoy - and I hope my drawings celebrate.
a 20 minute pose.... not one of the better hands I've drawn.... but overall the mood was captured.
Another 30 minute pose. This model had very striking features - bad drawing night and this was the only one I kept. I drew another drawing on the back of the sheet - the oil from the pastels is showing through.
